Art that becomes a meditation.  Like an icon or mandala - it takes you inwards.

Sally Colman's most recent collage work explores the temporal and the spiritual in three series. The Warm Series looks to earth and fire, the Cool Series reflects water and nature and the Vibrant Series explores the unseen.

Sally Colman is an Australian artist who is currently working in New Zealand. Her work draws on the random perfection most often seen in nature. She works in collage, paint, print and mixed media because they allow her to experiment with colour and texture to capture the essence of beauty. She wants her works to be alive, uplifting and joyful, while expressing a deeper reality that lies beneath the surface of things.

“Colour is the keyboard, the eyes are the harmonies, the soul is the piano with many strings. The artist is the hand that plays, touching one key or another, to cause vibrations in the soul.” Wassily Kandinsky.

Sally is working on a new theme. She is currently exploring the joy of costume, fabric and folk dress. She has always loved the drama and colour of costume in art (ballet, theatre etc) and in historical and ethnic dress. These works invite you into that world.
